Izertis and the Córdoba City Council, awarded at the Blockchain Awards 2025 for the 'Ssitizens' project to modernise the management of social assistance
The 'Ssitizens' project, promoted by the technology consultancy firm Izertis and the Córdoba City Council, has won the Blockchain Awards 2025, organised by Alastria, in the category of 'Best decentralised digital identity project'.
'Ssitizens’ offers a digital solution that modernises the management of social assistance. This is a pilot project implemented, together with the City Council, in the Cordoba Association UNO a UNO, which allows vulnerable citizens to easily access their rights, reduce bureaucracy for administrations and simplify management for collaborating businesses, automating the execution of processes and introducing AI analysis to validate purchases and refunds automatically.
Ssitizens' represents a new way of managing social assistance, integrating decentralised digital identity, verifiable credentials and traceable tokens, guaranteeing full transparency and data protection, in line with European regulations.
Miguel Ángel Acero, director of Digital Transformation & Innovation at Izertis, assures that "this recognition represents a great pride and the confirmation of the work we started in 2018 with several international projects focused on the development of digital wallets. With 'Ssitizens' we go a step further, applying this technology to a real case in Spain together with Cordoba City Council, reinforcing our commitment to innovation".
For Lourdes Morales, Deputy Mayor and Delegate for Digital Transformation of the Andalusian city council, "this recognition places our city as a benchmark in the use of emerging technologies at the service of citizens. We are once again demonstrating our commitment to digital transformation to improve the lives of the people of Cordoba, in this case, applied to Social Services".
