Success story - Spanish Nuclear Safety Council
Implementation and administration of Microsoft 365, calendar hybridisation and on-site support
Izertis implements and manages the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council’s Microsoft 365 environment, including calendar hybridisation, federated authentication and the implementation of Copilot

The project
The Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) was operating in a hybrid working environment, based on Exchange 2019 and an on-premises Active Directory, without integrated collaboration tools across departments. This situation restricted the organisation of meetings, the management of work teams and the synchronisation of calendars between the on-premises environment and the cloud.
Furthermore, as a regulatory body subject to the National Security Scheme (ENS), the CSN required any collaboration solution to meet strict security, identity management and cloud integration requirements, conditions already set out in the specifications that gave rise to the project.
To address these needs, the project led by Izertis involved the deployment of 550 Microsoft Teams licences, 450 Microsoft 365 E3 licences and 50 Copilot licences, alongside hybrid integration services and calendar synchronisation between on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online.
The challenges
Hybrid environment without integrated collaboration tools
Limitations on managing meetings and work teams
Calendar synchronisation between on-premises and online Exchange
ENS compliance and identity management

The solution
The solution implemented by Izertis is structured around the following measures:
- Deployment of Microsoft 365, comprising 550 Teams licences, 450 M365 E3 licences and 50 Copilot licences, to meet the collaboration needs of the entire organisation.
- Implementation of hybrid authentication via Microsoft Entra ID Connect, with login via corporate email and unified identity management.
- Full calendar synchronisation, ensuring unified management of meetings and availability.
- Organisation of teams and channels in Microsoft Teams, with a pilot roll-out in two departments as a starting point for expansion to the rest of the organisation.
- Deployment of Copilot for 50 users, incorporating task automation capabilities and AI-assisted content generation.
- Preparation of technical documentation, user training and on-site and hybrid support for one year, to ensure adoption of the platform.
The result
Thanks to this project, the CSN now has full integration of calendars and meetings between Teams and Exchange, enabling unified management of its teams’ availability. Access to collaboration tools is provided via a unified authentication system with MFA and SSO, enhancing security and facilitating compliance with ENS requirements.
The organisation of work into teams and channels within Teams enables the CSN to structure internal collaboration, whilst Copilot facilitates the automation of repetitive tasks and content generation, thereby increasing user productivity.
Furthermore, cloud-based authentication provides greater availability and service continuity, and the training delivered during the project has enabled an effective transfer of knowledge, equipping the CSN’s in-house team to maintain and develop the platform.
