Success story - Large UK pension administration and investment provider

Quality assurance for a Workday Finance transformation

Izertis leads quality assurance and testing for the Workday Finance transformation at a major UK pension and investment provider, incorporating programme governance, an end-to-end testing strategy and financial integrity validation prior to deployment

The project

The client was undertaking a complex, multi-supplier Workday Finance implementation with no established operating model to coordinate delivery across business, functional, technical and quality teams. Without clear governance, ownership and accountability were unclear, increasing the risk of delivery dependencies, inconsistent quality practices, and limited visibility of progress and risk.

Given the programme's scale, there was also a specific and significant risk around financial integrity: without rigorous assurance, the new solution could produce inaccurate or unreliable financial data, calculations and postings, exposing the organisation to operational, financial and audit risk.

The client needed a partner who could bring structure, governance and testing rigour to a programme of this complexity while maintaining delivery pace.

The challenges

  • No established operating model for delivery

  • Unclear governance across multiple suppliers

  • Risk to financial data integrity

  • Limited visibility of progress and risk

The solution

Izertis designed and implemented a POD-based delivery model, creating cross-functional teams with clear ownership that scaled with the programme while maintaining governance. This was underpinned by a programme-wide test strategy covering functional, integration, non-functional and user acceptance testing, defect management, and entry and exit criteria.

Programme governance was strengthened through RACI models clarifying roles and decision-making across business, IT and third parties, supported by bespoke operational runbooks for test execution, environment readiness, UAT coordination and release preparation.

Izertis led UAT, functional, integration and non-functional testing directly, and built executive Power BI dashboards giving leadership real-time visibility of quality, defects and release readiness. A core strand of the work was validating financial business processes end to end, including reconciliation activity and financial data integrity checks, working closely with finance stakeholders to confirm the solution met business, operational and audit expectations.

The result

The client gained a scalable, well-governed delivery model that remained in place through to programme completion, with strong stakeholder buy-in throughout. Programme leadership had a single, live source of truth for quality and delivery risk via executive reporting, improving decision-making and transparency across a complex multi-supplier environment.

Most significantly, the client achieved assured confidence in the accuracy, completeness and auditability of its financial data and processes ahead of go-live, reducing financial, operational and audit risk. Testing and governance processes matured alongside the programme, embedding quality into delivery rather than treating it as a separate phase, which reduced downstream defects and rework.
