Q-CARE

AI models to advance healthcare

QCARE

Bringing together science, technology and talent to transform the healthcare system through quantum computing and artificial intelligence is the goal of the Q-CARE consortium, a project involving Izertis and led by the International Quantum Center of FSAS Technologies, a Fujitsu company and a pioneer in quantum computing and artificial intelligence. The project aims to improve the efficiency and personalisation of healthcare, reducing the time required to develop new treatments and optimising hospital processes.

Challenges

Drug discovery presents significant computational challenges, such as the accurate identification of biological targets, the prediction of drug–protein interactions, and the structural comparison of molecules. These challenges require high processing power due to the complexity of the calculations involved.

Traditional methods for reconstructing phylogenetic trees (crucial for understanding disease evolution and predicting new genetic variants, contributing to more effective preventive and therapeutic methods) are computationally intensive and face limitations due to the exponential growth of genomic data.

Inefficiencies and lack of personalisation in healthcare systems lead to significant resource waste, making it necessary to promote the use of AI-based predictive models and explore emerging technologies such as quantum and quantum-inspired computing to address complex planning and resource allocation problems, moving towards a more efficient, predictive and patient-centred healthcare system.

Solution

Application of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AAI), quantum computing and quantum-inspired technologies for the identification of new chemical compounds, reconstruction of phylogenetic trees, and optimisation of care processes, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases.
