modernisation of the Spanish wine sector

The wine sector is a very important part of Spain’s economy, society and culture. Spain has the largest vineyard area in the world and is the leading country in wine exports by volume, with figures exceeding 2.3 billion litres per year. Over the past five years, the sector has invested on average between €170 million and €180 million annually in R&D&I projects. This project arises from the sector’s identified need to address current challenges in traceability and food safety, enabling all data to be tracked in a reliable and secure manner using the most disruptive technologies available.

Challenges
Integration into Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) of standardised data exchange ontologies applied to traceability in the wine sector
Use of future-proof, quantum-resistant blockchain networks to guarantee traceability through a scalable solution based on a decentralised database
Improving the efficiency of computational resources in blockchain networks to meet operational, scalability, performance, durability and security requirements
Use of artificial intelligence combined with photogrammetry to enhance user interaction and facilitate product traceability
Solution
Development of a comprehensive, collaborative traceability platform for the wine sector based on blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies, ensuring the solution is reliable, sustainable and scalable over time.
