Digital Europe: Izertis drives European innovation as a strategic partner in digital identity and blockchain projects

Izertis confirms its position as a leader in digital identity innovation through active participation in key European projects under the Digital Europe programme. These cutting-edge initiatives include DC4EU (Digital Credentials for Europe), EBSI-Vector (EBSI enabled Verifiable Credentials & Trusted Organisations Registries) y el consorcio WE BUILD (Wallet Ecosystem for Business and payments Use cases on Identification, Legal representation and Data sharing). Developed in collaboration with consortia representing over 20 countries, these projects form the foundation of Europe’s digital future and exemplify the company’s international collaborative and technological potential.

The event ‘Digital Europe 2025-2027: Opportunities, keys, and success stories for companies,’ organised by Asturias Digital Innovation Hub (AsDIH) in partnership with the Asturian Federation of Entrepreneurs (FADE), allowed Izertis, through David Santos, Innovation Consulant, to share its experiences within the Digital Europe programme, which is a key element of the organisation’s collaborative innovation strategy in the European sphere.

Strategic and collaborative innovation

Izertis’ commitment to digital transformation and European innovation is realised through an applied strategy focused on implementing solid use cases for verifiable digital credentials, digital wallets for secure management of credentials, and blockchain networks to ensure information traceability and immutability. The application sectors are diverse, with education, health, supply chains, payments, and public administration among the most representative, covering essential areas for social and economic development and exemplifying the tangible application of European projects promoted.

The company continues to strengthen its international ties

In this regard, the company continues to strengthen its international ties through active participation in multinational consortia, collaborating with a significant number of strategic partners across various countries. Through these collaborative networks, the integration of emerging technologies into digital solutions is driven, which have already proven effective and are ready to scale in the European market.

Thanks to this global collaboration, Izertis also boosts its innovation capabilities and consolidates its position at the forefront of the sector, taking advantage of opportunities arising in the European ecosystem, anticipating digital environment demands, identifying new strategic opportunities, and promoting an inclusive and sustainable large-scale digital transformation.

Key projects: DC4EU, EBSI-Vector and WE-BUILD

Izertis' participation in the Digital Europe framework is mainly realised through three projects addressing the deployment and piloting of concrete and validated digital solutions:

  • EBSI-VECTOR: A project aiming to scale the adoption of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) in areas such as education, social security, and commercial registries. Izertis develops the Business Wallet, a well-recognised reference solution within the consortium.
  • DC4EU: An initiative focused on interoperable digital credentials in education and social security. Izertis contributes with its Identfy Mobile Wallet for decentralised issuance and validation of credentials.
  • WE BUILD: A large-scale pilot project starting in September 2025, aimed at evaluating digital wallet usage in B2B, B2G and B2C interactions. Izertis participates with its Identfy solution for B2B use cases.

These projects share a focus on scalability of digital solutions, actively contributing to the regulatory and strategic goals defined by the European Commission for digital identity, blockchain application, and ensuring interoperability.

The experience accumulated through these projects enables the company to enhance its work lines and position itself as a key technology partner for public institutions and businesses seeking to develop robust strategies in digital credentials, digital wallets, and blockchain-based traceability. With proactive monitoring and a value chain vision, Izertis consolidates itself as a strategic partner in the development and implementation of Europe’s future digital infrastructure.

Digital Europe Programme

The Digital Europe Programme is a European Union initiative launched in 2021 aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of its member states, ensuring that citizens, businesses, and public administrations fully benefit from advanced digital technologies.

With an investment of 1.3 billion euros for the 2025-2027 period focused on supporting digital infrastructure, digital capabilities, technology adoption, and innovation, this programme sets a roadmap to address the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy and society.

Its priorities include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and digital skills development. Thus, the programme promotes sustainable and inclusive digitalisation that strengthens European technological autonomy and facilitates the implementation of innovative solutions in both public and private sectors.
