Project: PHYSIO CSCI 2022 RESPIRATORY REHABILITATION DEVICE USING ELECTROSTIMULATION FOR PATIENTS WITH CSCI (CERVICAL SPINAL CORD INJURY) EXP 00144774 / IDI-20221018

Objective: The PHYSIO CSCI 2022 project aims to research, develop and evaluate, together with patients, a respiratory rehabilitation system based on electrostimulation for individuals with cervical spinal cord injury (CSCI). The project will be carried out by COCEMFE Toledo Servicios Múltiples, S.L. and IZERTIS, with the support of the technology innovation centre Tecnalia Research & Innovation, and in collaboration with the National Hospital for Paraplegics.

CTS’s role, in addition to leading the project and ensuring its efficient management, will consist of the research and textile development of the device. It will be supported by Tecnalia in all aspects related to electrical stimulation, and by the Hospital in defining the device requirements, as well as in conducting trials with patients.

For its part, IZERTIS will work on the development of the software modules required for device configuration, the communication protocols enabling data exchange with the device, and the integration of data from other devices capable of measuring the user’s physiological response. It will be supported by TECNALIA in tasks related to extracting information from medical data using artificial intelligence algorithms.
