Innovating with AI: from experimentation to competitive advantage

Innovating with AI: from experimentation to competitive advantage

Every technological revolution has a turning point: the moment when we stop asking what technology can do and start asking what we can build with it. AI is right at that point. The challenge now is to bridge the gap between a sound proof of concept and a capability that truly works in business. That leap requires us to redesign processes, decision-making, knowledge, governance and new ways of working.

That is why, in 2026, iNNOLAB is focusing on making Izertis its ‘zero customer’. We wanted to gain a practical understanding of where the real value of AI lies and what capabilities a technology consultancy needs to integrate it in a robust, useful, secure and scalable way. This learning then translates into value for our clients.

At Izertis, we see AI as a lever for transformation capable of unlocking opportunities and strengthening the way organisations create value. We are committed to AI that serves the business and expert knowledge, enhancing judgement, amplifying experience and integrating into the evolution of organisations.

At iNNOLAB, we use AI to innovate, and, at the same time, we innovate within AI itself. The question guiding this exploration is simple yet ambitious:

How should a technology consultancy transform itself in the age of artificial intelligence?

The business environment won’t wait. Neither will clients. Competitive advantage lies in the ability to spot trends early, make the right choices and build the capabilities that will be needed later on.

Each iNNOLAB squad starts with a business question: what problem are we solving? What friction are we reducing? What capability can we bring to Izertis or its clients? How should we work to ensure the solution is useful, reliable and scalable?

Multi-disciplinary squads comprising roles from operations, sales, technology and innovation are built around these questions.

Next comes the prototype: a workflow, a demo, a functional agent, a framework or an accelerator. The hypothesis becomes tangible and insights emerge sooner.

Creativity opens up possibilities. The business focus determines which ones are worth pursuing.

Squads united by a common theme

In 2026, iNNOLAB’s Squads have been working towards a common goal: how AI can transform our processes and capabilities to make them more efficient, secure and scalable.

The areas of exploration have tackled some of the challenges that will shape the evolution of technology consultancy: new ways of developing software using AI, collaboration between intelligent agents, trust and identity models for cognitive systems, business productivity and the harnessing of expert knowledge.

Each Squad examines a different aspect of the same strategic challenge at Izertis, but they all start from a shared question: what value can this capability generate, for whom and why now? From there, opportunities are investigated, conceptualised and turned into prototypes and accelerators that allow us to test their real-world applicability.

The result is a connected innovation map designed to understand how our way of working needs to evolve and to turn that learning into new value propositions for our clients.

Izertis as zero customer

Transformation is best understood when experienced first-hand. That is why iNNOLAB uses Izertis as its ‘zero customer’, as a test bed: an environment in which to redesign processes, experiment with new working models and validate solutions before transferring the lessons learnt to the market.

An internal need becomes a challenge. The challenge is investigated and prototyped. The lessons learnt are documented and reused.

The initiatives with the greatest potential are developed into assets, accelerators or services.

From iNNOLAB to the AI CoE, our Centre of Excellence for AI

iNNOLAB identifies opportunities, formulates challenges, prototypes and validates proposals. When an initiative receives the ‘GO’ signal, the AI CoE gives it traction: it develops it, industrialises it and integrates it into Izertis’ ecosystem of AI-assisted tools and capabilities.

iNNOLAB acts as a radar and a driving force for exploration. The AI CoE provides the technological and governance framework to ensure initiatives evolve in line with common criteria for security, trust, measurement and scalability.

This process transforms a hypothesis into a reusable asset, a prototype into an integrated solution, and internal learning into market capability.

One Tech Ahead, put into practice

One Tech Ahead means building today the capabilities that the market will need tomorrow. iNNOLAB transforms technological signals into business questions and business questions into solutions that can be validated. The AI CoE completes the journey with continuity, governance and scale.

The difference will be made by whoever integrates AI most effectively: with realism, ambition and a sustainable vision. True transformation occurs when technology amplifies judgement, enhances expert knowledge and translates into impact.

iNNOLAB paves the way. The AI CoE ensures continuity. Together, they turn AI innovation into a strategic capability for Izertis and for our clients
