SYMMETRY
integrates digital technologies to improve chronic health management

The SYMMETRY project has focused on the development of a standardised and interoperable digital platform that supports the creation and operation of new digital health services by incorporating the latest disruptive technologies. It enables improved detection and comprehensive treatment of chronic diseases, significantly reduces medical errors, and fully integrates the electronic health record system.

The SYMMETRY project has involved the development of a standardised and interoperable digital platform that supports the creation and operation of new digital services

Challenges
To design and develop a user-centred digital platform for health and wellness solutions and services.
To develop a digital medical record system based on SNOMED CT as the standard terminology, which uses natural language to translate free text into standard terms and provides clinical decision support through artificial intelligence.
To build prevention and management services for healthcare targeted at users with chronic conditions and dependencies (telemedicine, remote monitoring, chatbots, etc.).
To develop a prototype of cognitive services based on computer vision for the detection of psychological or neurological conditions in chronic patients.
Solution
As a result of the SYMMETRY project, a medical information system has been developed leveraging new information technologies such as cloud computing, IoT, and machine learning to provide innovative and value-added services.
SYMMETRY introduces significant technological innovation, as algorithms and technologies available within the scientific community have been used to develop a new solution with enhanced features for clinical information management. Furthermore, the project represents a substantial technological advancement in the creation of new medical decision support systems, achieved through industrial design and process engineering.
