BorderSens

portable and wireless drug detector delivering results in seconds

BorderSens
BORDERSENS

The final objective of the BorderSens project research is to develop a unique, portable, and wireless prototype device capable of detecting different types of drugs, precursors, and adulterants/cutting agents within 45 seconds, with high accuracy and a low rate of false positives and negatives.

Challenges

To rapidly and simultaneously detect and identify drugs, cutting agents, adulterants, and precursors using electrochemical technology.

To achieve outstanding selectivity and sensitivity, as well as exceptional accuracy.

To develop a low-cost, portable, and wireless prototype device for on-site drug detection and to validate it in field operations.

Solution

The solution is based on the research results of the electrochemical fingerprints of drugs and precursors, combined with strategies to unravel and enhance these fingerprints, the development and integration of selective molecularly imprinted polymers (nanoMIPs) and nanomaterials, and data capture and analysis.
