Izertis and the transnational research group in charge of the Dressing4scars project meet

On 6,7 and 8 May a meeting was held in Guimarães, Portugal, to talk about the evolution of the Dessing4scars european project to show the advances in the new intelligent 4D dressing that improves skin scars. At the meeting, Izertis, together with the University of Minho, the Royal Surgeon College of Ireland and Idonial, in charge of coordinating the project, had the opportunity to exchange information and make known their advances regarding the intelligent dressing that is being designed to avoid the formation of scars on the skin.

The objective of the Izertis and Idional team, headed by Joaquín Cabezas, Jairo Fraga, Alberto González, Manuel Alejandro Fernández, Daniel Álvarez and Helena Herrada, is to develop, through a disruptive approach based on 4D printing, an intelligent and personalized dressing for sensitive skin able to avoid the formation of scars on the skin while healing wounds by excision.

The Dressin4scars project, financed by IDEPA and M-ERA.NET Transnational Call 2016 program, can therefore be considered a new revolutionary concept that goes beyond additive manufacturing. It becomes a 4D bioprinting technology with enormous potential that will be the key to the current and future cutting-edge treatments that will be carried out in regenerative medicine.
